My boss wants me to lie to a potential client... and I'm not sure that doing so would be unreasonable.

I'm an artist for a small business. A client has gotten in touch with us, but has expressed concern about whether or not we are a small business, and whether or not we actually do the work ourselves. Part of what this company sells is the fact that we are a small business, have control over our own operations, and do the work ourselves, in house. My boss is worried that if our client finds out that I am our only employee, they won't do business with us. My boss has asked me to lie to our client about hiring practices, specifically to tell them that the owner is not involved in the day to day, and that the business is run by me, an independent contractor, and a few other employees who work on a regular basis. I am worried that lying about our hiring practices is dishonest, but I also don't want to turn away clients by telling the truth. I'm not sure of what to do. Am I overreacting?
