CMV: The US should ban the sale and distribution of fireworks

Combining multiple points into a single thread. There’s been an explosion of forest and wild fires on US territory over the past few years. It seems like with many of them you hear on the news “it’s assumed a human did this but we don’t have details yet.” This gives me the impression that the total amount of wildfires caused by human activity is really high, and that some of them could be prevented by banning the sale and distribution of fireworks. Fireworks are fun but the harm they cause exceeds any joy they bring.<br><br>I don’t expect to actually change any minds over this. The fallout on fireworks manufacturers would be huge, I doubt there would be any political support, especially given the tradition of American fireworks. The idea of banning fireworks has come up in different states when they’ve had wildfires, and I don’t think they’ve ever banned it. So this is more of a thought experiment. What are some of the holes in this argument?
