But what does someone actually mean when they say they're "not into that"

How many times have you not been into something that you've since tried and discovered that you had been wrong about it? If people don't like a show, movie, food, band, game, sport, or hobby, it's generally because they aren't into it, and I'd even go as far as saying that a large percentage of the time, someone who isn't into something hasn't even *tried* it. I know that in general, the things I'm not into are the things I don't really know anything about. I'm not a fan of soccer because I don't know anything about it, I wasn't into chicken parmesan because I'd never tried it, and so on.

I'm not trying to use this as a justification for the overplayed "Well, have you ever *actually tried* a catgirl?" meme. I just find it dubious that people can make such claims when they have no idea what they're missing out on.
