How important is it to learn about threading?

Hello everyone, just a few months ago I started to learn about programming in python. I know about threading, but not much about it, I think is a nice topic in order to get better performance while doing many things at the same time, but I wonder if is still necessary to learn about it, when apps that uses a lot of concurrent tasks uses multithreading or another things.<br><br><br>PD: Sorry about my english.
