It’s okay to accessorize your school outfits. It makes a huge difference in self-esteem in middle school.

I know it might be a dumb topic to talk about on this sub, but I’d just like to emphasize the importance of dressing however you like in middle school (or any time in life, really). Yes, school can take a toll on grades and whatnot. I’m not saying that should be prioritized over anything else. But sticking to basic outfits with no accessories or flair in middle school can negatively impact a person’s self-esteem.

I’m just gonna compile a list of what I mean:

1) jewelry. Either that’s a necklace, another chain, ring, earring, or however you want to do it. Just wear what makes you happy.

2) hair clips. A really underrated accessory. I like to keep them on one side of my fringe and add a really nice touch to my school outfits.

3) sneakers. Okay, so this might not be the most underrated, but it’s really the best way to express yourself in the context of shoes. You can’t really wear boots in the middle of summer or Birkenstocks in rain.

4) hoodies. Yes, I know this is a really popular one, but they’re honestly the best when you’re carrying your backpack around. A good practical choice.

5) sock accessories. Okay this is a new thing I’ve found that honestly has made me feel more confident in middle school. It’s just a little clasp for taller socks that’s honestly so fun to get into.
