I've never had so much fun subbing as I did today

I subbed for a high school class today for the first time, and I had an absolute blast with this particular class.

It was a special ed class with 4 students, and I was nervous because I didn't know how it would go with students with special needs (I've only had regular ed classes). The teacher gave me a lesson plan that looked very basic, and I was a little worried that it would be boring since I'd be doing the same lesson with them three times a day.

First period, we did the lesson as planned, but I realized that the students were so much fun. They all had very distinct personalities, and I loved chatting with them as we worked on the lesson. One kid asked if we could have a dance party for the last 10 minutes of class, and I quickly agreed, and it ended up being so much fun dancing with them.

Then came the second period. I was a little worried that they'd get bored with the lesson, but they were all so excited to do it again and I realized I could try to spice up the lesson in different ways to keep them engaged. So, I ended up incorporating music and dance into all of the lessons that day.

It was the most fun I've ever had in the classroom.

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, but I never imagined how much joy I could get from just watching these kids learn and having fun. This morning was such a confidence booster and I'm so glad I had this experience.

Edit: I also want to say that I think this is a great sub job because I can get to know the students better since I'm working with smaller groups. I've had other jobs with bigger classes and it's harder to form connections with the students.
