What is the difference between Biden siding with the unions and Trump siding with the US Coal industry?

It seems that Biden doesn't want the railways to strike, so he is sending the bill to Congress to stop them, because he wants to side with the union that is very important in the Pennsylvania district that the Democrats need to win in order to not lose the house and senate in the next election.<br><br>Trump sided with the US coal industry that was in danger of being absorbed by the market, because he wanted to win West Virginia, and he also wanted to be re-elected.<br><br>If Trump did it for the Coal industry to save jobs, and Biden does it to save jobs, what is the difference? <br><br>I don't agree with either, and I agree that trump was a piece of shit, but it seems here that Biden is doing the same thing that Trump did. <br><br>​<br><br>Edit: thanks for the gold, stranger. As a professor of economics, I will say that I also agree that the market should decide this, as it decides everything. <br><br>You will not see me defending Trump, but I also disagree with Biden here.
