What are your thoughts on the "popularity" of Philosophy and how we as philosophers can help change that

Hello everyone, I am not sure if this topic has been discussed before but I thought I'd throw it out there and get some of your thoughts.

**I can't help but feel when a lot of people use "philosophy", they don't actually understand what it really is and what it's all about and truly meant to be.**

**There's a lot of "philosophers" who have gained popularity; whether it's from being a "philosopher" themselves, a Youtuber, a podcaster, or something else. They use this umbrella term of Philosophy and most of the things they talk about have nothing to do with philosophy itself, but more about new-age spirituality, mental health, self-help, etc.**

**They don't actually dive into the real meaning of philosophy and the complexity that it truly has. I think it's a really sad thing to see philosophy as a whole being viewed as something so simple and basic when in reality it's much more than that.**

**I am not saying everyone who uses this term of philosophy would do that, but more so that it's becoming increasingly popular.**

I also feel like a lot of people think that Philosophy is all about just being "wise" or "smart" or even thinking that philosophers think they're "other than" everyone else. But that's far from the truth. My personal definition of Philosophy is that Philosophy is the love and study of knowledge, wisdom, truth, and reality (understanding) and trying to see the world from a different perspective and understand reality through reasoning and thinking.

**So I guess my question ultimately is, how as philosophers can we help change this view of philosophy and show people what it's really about?**

**I also want to say that there are some really good philosophers on Youtube who take out their time and actually teach philosophy and the different branches of philosophy and really break it down in the best way they can.**

**But in conclusion, I thought I'd throw this out there and see what you guys are thinking and if any of you have experienced/seen this sort of thing.**

Thank you
