Under what circumstances would you buy something new?

Let’s imagine you just moved into a new house, with a new partner, using a bunch of hand-me-downs and stuff from the dollar store. You’re trying to cultivate a minimalist lifestyle. Now imagine that you, miraculously, have a budget to upgrade any of the goods and services you currently have. What would you choose, and what things would you definitely never upgrade to a higher quality? I’ve been wondering what stuff might be worth splurging on, and what you can keep low budget even when money isn’t an issue.
