huge unprompted rant from my male therapist today

I’ve been seeing my therapist for about 4 months now. I met him through a mutual friend, who is also a therapist. My friend is very feminist, so i assumed the same for my therapist. he’s always been very punctual and professional. <br><br>it’s been a great therapy relationship in general so far. he managed my crisis well, and my friends definitely knows this guy. I am generally not good with men, so I feel like I’m in control of the therapy. I trust him to some extent. <br><br>recently, a new therapist associate joined the practice. my therapist has been acting a little strange since bringing her up in an early session last month. today was the first time he mentioned her name. her name is a very feminine name, in the same vein as my name. but more common. <br><br>today he was rambling about some random shit at the start of the session. it wasn’t uncommon for him to throw in random facts about history and stuff in sessions. at some point in our session he asked me about what i thought about the associate. I said something like “oh yeah, i don’t really have any thoughts about her, just that that’s your new associate.” <br><br>and he was like “yeah, what do you think of her name?” And i was like “what…? like what do you mean?” He says “yeah i think it’s really pretty! isn’t it really pretty?” I’m just freaking out at this point and i said something like “yeah it’s alright, but i don’t know what you mean.” <br><br>and he starts rambling about how it’s a shame she isn’t a client because he thinks they would look cute together. i’m taken aback and then i say “oh they share the same face? that’s awkward.” He gets that look on his face like i’m too smart for him to deal with. <br><br>then he starts talking about how she has light brown hair like me, but he doesn’t like her haircut. then he starts pulling a “which one do you think would win in a fight?” <br><br>i’m absolutely horrified. i’m like “neither of us would want to fight you, but sure, if you want to know.” He says “oh, so you think you could beat her?” And i said “it doesn’t matter, it’s not like we’re going to fight each other. why do you think about that?” <br><br>and he starts like getting vulgar and talking about us both being like “sexy amazon warriors” or something, and i’m just like “oh my god.” <br><br>he laughs it off. i go to the bathroom in the waiting room. it’s just so fucking messed up. he’s just disgusting. <br><br>i didn’t confront him about it bc it was the last third of the session, but definitely going to talk about it on Monday
