How do you grieve a person you never met or even knew existed?

My mother’s father died late last year.

I’ve heard it was due to natural causes and that he’d be in his 60s, but not much else. He was a native of a certain Asian country, my mother is a mix and he was the reason for this.

When I was little, his wife (my mother’s mother) would explain to me why he wasn’t around. I have few memories of her, since she left when I was 8.

When I got older my mother and I would talk about that side of my family. We’d end up arguing about it because I wanted to know the truth, or at the very least she’d have been more upfront.

Now, I feel lost and I can’t stop thinking about my grandfather, even though I don’t know anything about him.
