The new trend of "I'm not against AI, I just don't want it to replace people's jobs" is completely ridiculous

I see a lot of people making an argument that seems to boil down to "we should not allow AI to replace people's jobs because work is a necessary component of a person's identity" and similar things. I think this is a very narrow-minded, selfish and illogical viewpoint from people who don't want to adapt and are scared of change. What this viewpoint assumes is that by allowing AI to do people's jobs, we are somehow going to magically remove people's sense of identity and replace it with nothing. It doesn't consider the fact that if we allow AI to do jobs, we would need to eradicate the entire concept of work. A lot of these people seem to want to place a ban on AI doing stuff that could replace people's jobs, which is again ridiculous because, assuming AI really is as good as we make it out to be, humans would not be able to compete. The end result would be AI doing the jobs and humans receiving money and leisure time, and having to find their sense of identity elsewhere.
