CMV: The internet could be better without Reddit.

Hi everyone. I rarely create threads but I feel this one in particular is relevant to this sub. I’ll share some reasons why I think the internet could be better without Chambers, and you try to change my view.

We get shadowbanned by Chambers for no reason. This forces us to create second accounts we use to post in chambers that know shadowbanning is dumb as hell. Then, we get doxxed for having a second account. THIS IS UNFAIR. We should be able to have second accounts. The concept of doxxing is terrible. People have gotten their lives ruined by having their private info exposed. Chambers does nothing to stop this, because they know they will get bashed for it. Doxxing and banning people for having second accounts is bullshit.

There are too many subreddits. Many are biased or propaganda. For example, there’s r/Trumpgret. I’m not political, and I don’t care who is president. But I feel like something like that is biased and used for propaganda. It isn’t even trying to hide that. That isn’t something that Chambers accepts. This is just one example. There are thousands of these.

Chambers is about upvoting your friends and downvoting your enemies. This is something that you can’t deny knowing of. If I make a post, and I have a few friends upvote it, it will get more recognition. Chambers should be about how quality of your post or comment is. Not about who you know.

There are too many hate subreddits. I found dozens of these within minutes. There are hundreds more. r/LetsHateMax. r/LetsHateCharlie. r/LetsHate. r/EverybodyHates. r/LetsHateGabe. r/FuckDoctorBiden. Yes, real hate subreddits. Chambers allows this, and everyone in those chambers sits there and talks about how much they hate something or someone. If Chambers is as perfect as everyone thinks it is, this wouldn’t be allowed. This is disgusting.

Subreddit owners are power hungry. If you’re in a special snowflake private chamber, you know what I’m talking about. You need to be accepted by a mod, and if you do something wrong, they’ll get angry at you over their power. They need to accept you and give you special permission just to join their subreddit. How can anyone think this’s fair? This is just stupid. The point of the internet is to give us access to the rest of the world. Not to make the rest of the world access you.

Subreddit owners go by their own rules. Chambers has rules it enforces, yet mods don’t enforce them within their own subreddits. They just make their own and go by them. “Oh I ban people who use swear words!” Or “I ban people who disagree with me!” Chambers rules don’t say anything about that. Yet mods think they can just make their own rules outside of the rules of Chambers without getting their sub shut down. If they break the rules, their chamber should be shut down, whether it’s popular or not.

The method of moderators is flawed. If I apply to be a moderator, I have a better chance of being accepted if I know the owner. This is bullshit. If I am the best person for the job, yet my friend is the owner, I will still be rejected for a position I’m better qualified for just because the owner is an idiot.

Also, moderators have their own groups where they collude. There are hundreds of moderator groups and collusions. Moderators are humans. They talk with each other. They collude. They do the exact thing they ban people for. If they ban someone for it, it’s only fair that they get banned for it too. Yet moderators are never banned for colluding. It’s bullshit.

I hope I elaborated enough on why this is a CMV. I may have repeated my reasons in some places, I apologize for that. I was recalling these reasons from memory while posting.

Edit: I don’t know how to respond to this many comments, so I’ll just get all of them straight out of the way. I disagree with every single one of you. You are all wrong. You have a flawed perspective. I know better. Now stop leaving comments.
