Just put my cat down

He was cute, funny, smart and loving, and he loved to cuddle in my arms. My best friend who I spent all my free time with. My sweet little Duddy.<br><br>His kidneys gave out, and his quality of life was shot. He was lethargic and in pain, so I made the decision to put him down. I am so fucking sad, and I miss him with all my heart.<br><br>I am a single lass who lives alone, and he was the one I had to share my experiences with, sit and talk to, play with, and still get into trouble with. He was also the one to make cute little noises and cuddle me up every night.<br><br>I got him when he was 3yo, and he was 16yo when I put him down. He was my sweet companion for 13yrs.<br><br>I miss seeing him sprawled on the settee with his legs in the air, cutest arse in the world. I miss seeing him doing zoomies around the house, and I miss him curled up in my arms, sleeping in them. I just miss him so much.<br><br>I gave him some treats and LOTS of cuddles in those last few minutes, and the vet let me stay with him while he died, even when the lethal injection was administered. I held him all the way until Duddy was gone. <br><br>I hope he is at peace now, and not in any more pain. I love you Duddy, with all my heart.<br><br>Edit: I am so blown away by all the lovely comments and messages I've had, it's so nice that people understand how much my fur baby means to me. I took some stuff around to the vets tonight, and watching everyone do their job with so much compassion and empathy, especially the vet that put Duddy down, it makes me appreciate how hard they work.<br><br>When I laid Duddy down to give the lethal injection, she stroked him, and told him he was a good kitty, and that he was going to be alright. She made me cry, then the vet nurse started crying too, because I was balling my eyes out. I am convinced it was their kindness and compassion that helped him go quietly. <br><br>I am having Duddys ashes back, and he will sit on my mantle, not far from my Dad. I hope Duddy gets a few treats up there, he likes those.
