AITA for dropping my son with his clingy ex girlfriend?

My son (21M) recently broke up with his girlfriend (22F) of three years after he found out she was cheating on him. She was devastated by the breakup and begged my son to give her a second chance. He said no.

Fast forward a few days, he gets a call from her roommate saying she had crashed her car badly and was in the hospital.

My son was worried and went to the hospital to check on her. She seemed fine. They talked for a while and she begged him again to give her a second chance saying she will do anything to regain his trust and make it up to him. My son said no.

He then recommended she go home to her parents because she was too rattled to stay alone at her apartment and also because it might be good for them to spend some time together after her bad experience. She agreed but asked him to drop her off at her parents. He agreed.

Later, my wife and I (both in our 50s) asked him why he dropped her off at her parents because he could have arranged for an Uber or taxi to drive her first to her apartment to pick up her stuff and then drive her to her parents. We also suggested he could have asked her roommate to take her back to her parents.

My son said she wanted him to drive her and he felt bad saying no after what had happened to her.

I told him he was being played and that it was stupid of him to do her bidding even though she cheated on him.

My wife said maybe the accident had left her a bit shaken and that my son was right to help her.

So AITA for calling him stupid? Or was he being a pushover?
