Who else gets shocked by peoples lack of basic understanding of philosophy?

I'll be having a discussion about something and I'll make a point that I genuinely thought everyone knew, and then I'll be blindsided as to the way people react. The only thing everyone seems to know about philosophy is who Socrates is and that's literally about it.

Today, I made a comment about how certain political ideologies makes sense according to game theory. Then, someone told me that I'm "too intelligent for my own good" and that I should learn to enjoy life instead of doing all this thinking. This was literally the only thing said to me in response to what I said.

Another example is when I was 16. I started to use basic logic to debunk a theory I didn't like. Then, my friend randomly says "what is the point of even talking about philosophy when we can't even be sure 100% of anything exists".

This is the reason I don't like starting philosophy discussions with people I don't know well.
