Just wanted to let people know how hard it is to escape poverty even if you make more money

I make a lot of money but I’m broke. I’ve been renting for 20 years on a modest income. I now make 6 figures but every penny is spent. I make more than triple what I used to, but my bank is empty every day. Expensive car to help me feel like I’ve made it, expensive house to provide for my family, $400 phone, $200 airpods, $100 headphones, the list goes on. When this kind of money is made you also have to support everyone around you. My bank is empty every day before it’s even time to be making my next paycheck. I’ve been making this kind of money for a few years now and I have saved $10,000. That will be gone at the end of the month though because my house needs a new roof.

That’s not even the worst part. There’s no way I can go back to being what people call “frugal”. Living paycheck to paycheck earning minimum wage, with an old car and old phone and having to constantly worry about money is hard. I’m not going to go back to that and neither will anyone else. It’s just too hard. You just have to be stuck living this way forever if you make more money. Millennials are right. We’ll never retire.
