The idea here is to brainstorm a collaborative worldbuilding effort, specifically focused on a fictional alien civilisation. We each add a detail at a time in the comments. If you like the idea of this, you can reply to this comment with an idea. If you'd like to veto any element, you can reply to the original comment. We can use this framework for a structured discussion.

Details

• You can only propose a single idea per comment. If you have multiple ideas, split them across separate comments. This ensures you can propose different things and veto without worrying about inconsistency.

• Avoid physical humanoid features and one-to-one analogies with human biology.

• Any technology should be described in some detail.

• Avoid the possession of or belief in magic. It's fun, but difficult to deal with in a collaborative project.

• If you want to introduce an idea that directly conflicts with an already proposed concept, please negotiate with the other contributor first. Try to find a compromise, and come back if you agree. Conflict can be interesting, but it's difficult to resolve in a collaborative project without stepping on toes.

• Please avoid plot armour. There are plenty of real-world examples of the dangers of wishful thinking.

• Try to avoid difficult to pronounce words. If you can avoid it, please don't invent new languages.

• Feel free to include or suggest subplots, side stories, and loose ends. The main story is interesting, but the side stories can be just as fun.
