I am in the dating phase of a new relationship, and the question of kids is always brought up. I am 41M, and she is 32F. She is of the opinion that kids are mandatory - pretty much the same opinion her family has.

I am not sure what your views are on kids, but a few of you have mentioned being fathers. Hopefully this might interest you.

I have worked in software for the last 20 years, have good skills, and make good money. I was lucky enough to have good parents that helped me achieve this, and I have done pretty well.

We know what the world will be like in 20 years, given the condition it is in today. It is not going to be a very good place by any stretch, and kids will face challenges that we cannot imagine.

This is a long post, but the main point is this: if you have kids, know that you are sentencing them to a crappy, miserable existence in most cases. If you are not ready for this, and are willing and able to keep your reproductive organs to yourself, you don’t have kids.

I personally am not going to have kids. I am not ready to do so as I still have things I need to work on, and I see it as selfish to bring children into this world if you can’t be a good parent.

I am interested in hearing your thoughts on this.

The following is a list of about 40 reasons that I have come up with as to why it is unethical to have kids in this day and age:

1.
