My 8th grader is terrible at math. He knows that he's built for Art, so unlike his sister, who was a little more math inclined, who is now in AP Calculus. My son is not that kid. He has been exposed to algebra (3rd grade), geometry (4th grade), fractions (5th grade), pre-algebra (6th grade), algebra (7th grade), and now we're in 8th grade and he's taking advanced pre-algebra. He says he wants to be a chef, so I think he could just follow the recipe and that would be fine. He doesn't need to be Bobby Flay. However, this teacher is in a complete panic because he's not going to pass. And, I'm not very adept at helping him because I haven't done any math since college. So, we need to find him a tutor.

He's not a dumb kid, he's actually very funny. It just comes down to the fact that he's not good at math. So, for the sake of his grade, his confidence, and his teacher's sanity, we need to find him a tutor who will sit with him 1:1 and make math work for him. I get that its a chore, but I hope the right tutor is out there for him. Wish us luck.

Edit: I'm not worried about his lack of math acumen or the fact that he is not going to college. I'm just looking for a tutor for him.
