CARMEL, Ind. –General Motors today announced plans to hire 10,000 software developers, engineers and designers between now and 2025 as it continues its transformation into a software-defined mobility company.<br><br>These new hires will be located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Israel and China and will support GM’s efforts to develop AI-enabled technologies related to electrification, autonomous driving, vehicle connectivity and security, and more.<br><br>Today’s announcement builds on GM’s long-term commitment to investing in its talent, technology and processes. The company is putting customer experience at the center of its business model while building on its strong manufacturing and supply chain heritage.<br><br>GM has more than 3,000 open positions for software developers and engineers indfd these areas and more:<br><br>Machining and manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing engineering management and more.<br><br>Electrification, such as electrical systems, systems test and validation, electrical systems engineer and more.<br><br>Autonomous systems engineering, vehicle safety and systems validation engineer.<br><br>Cybersecurity, such as threat intelligence, vulnerability assessment, security architecture and more.<br><br>“Developing software, electronics and data analytics is at the center of everything we do as we continue to transform the future of mobility for our customers and shareholders,” said Mark Reuss, GM president. “To support this, we need to hire the best and brightest in the tech and STEM fields to help us innovate faster than ever before.”<br><br>GM’s ability to deliver to customers a wide portfolio of EVs and a more robust customer experience requires building a robust software stack. The company is prioritizing software development talent across EV, AV, and vehicle connectivity engineering, as well as cloud engineering, data analytics and more, in addition to hiring talent for its manufacturing, purchasing and energy management teams.<br><br>The company offers several ways for students and professionals to gain the skills needed to be hired by GM. These include free classes offered on its Teach-For-All platform that address skills in data analytics, cybersecurity and more, as well as the opportunity to win a scholarship to attend a three-month coding boot camp. The GM student intern program offers eligible candidates the opportunity to intern at a GM manufacturing facility or engineering office.
