What if the people who are working on AI are actually just idiots?

How can we be so sure that the people working on AI are actually capable of creating it? There's probably thousands of people in universities around the world working on it at the moment, but none of them have written a line of code in their entire career. Maybe they're actually dumb and could never create AI.<br><br>Seems like a little bit of a gamble to be funding the development of AI so heavily if it has the potential to kill all life on earth.
