Make sure to keep your house tidy

My kids left 2 weeks ago, and before they left we sat down to talk about money matters. I’m a pretty chill parent, so I never really cared that their rooms were messy, but the topic came up when talking about the electricity bill. They asked why it was so high and I told them that their friends used to stay over all the time and we always had lights, the radio, tv and other stuff on.

Then I told them that the house looks a lot better now, tidier and all, and it’s so much easier and relaxing to be in the living room. They didn’t really care that much but it got me thinking after they left. That’s why this weekend I decided to tidy up the house, I cleaned up everything, the garden, the kitchen, threw out some stuff I don’t need anymore, so now I can definitely say that the house looks better now.

And the bill for water, gas and electricity came this week, so after comparing it to last month I can say that I saved around 100 dollars this month. I guess I am just posting this so others can learn from my mistake. Cleaning up daily and turning off those lights you aren’t using can save you a lot more than you think.
