I’m really annoyed and disappointed at what I’m seeing in this sub lately

I think I can safely say that I’m one of the most active posters in this sub, so I know what the spirit of the sub is supposed to be and what it used to be about. It’s about cooking on a budget, for basically anyone who’s really facing a tight squeeze and needs expertise and advice on how to basically survive. That’s the primary audience that we strive to serve.

I see a lot of people just dumping in their recipe, and then using the description to basically apologize and justify the fact that it isn’t cheap or that it’s not for a budget. It’s annoying and it’s not fun. We should be focusing on cheap, not just frugal and thrifty, and much of what I see here is frugal and thrifty but not cheap, and that’s what we serve. I get the economy is a mess, but that’s my point. This sub is basically designed for people in economic crises, and that’s what we should focus on. I don’t want to see some 6 serving recipe that costs $24. I want to see 2-3 servings for $3.50. I don’t want to see $13 bean recipes.

I really can’t stress enough, we’re not even frugal, we’re cheap. There are plenty of frugal subs out there, and they’re not here for a reason. If you want to post your frugal recipes, go to those subs and post there, because they serve those people, we serve cheap people.
