The case accuses Trump of violating laws when he called for votes to be ‘recalculated’ in the state for the 2020 election – a move some argue was an attempt to coerce election officials to change the outcome.<br><br>The Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis filed charges last summer accusing Trump of violating laws on false statements and election fraud. <br><br>Willis’ suit was an investigation into Trump’s claims that Georgia’s 2020 presidential election results were fraudulent, and the alleged efforts to overturn the election. The case also accuses some of Trump’s associates of violating laws related to election tampering and violating the rights of election officials.<br><br>Trump’s lawyers argue that he is allowed to challenge the election results, as he was a candidate. However, the judge disagreed, stating that there is enough evidence to suggest that Trump did indeed break the laws with his actions related to the election.<br><br>Trump and his lawyers may challenge the judges decision, including applying for an appeal.
