My wife and I are the primary caregivers for my parents. My wife and her mother don't get along (long story), so wife pretty much won't have anything to do with them. So that falls on me, and of course my children get dragged into it as well whether they like it or not.

I don't have any siblings, so there is literally no one else to do this. Wife has offered to help, and has repeatedly tried her hardest to help, but repeatedly the parents have lashed out at wife as well as her mother. I've basically concluded my wife and her mother just can't get along with them.

The stress is immense, and it is breaking our family apart. I am finding myself repeatedly telling my children to go to their rooms, so my abused parents cannot get to them. My wife abused parents just won't shut the hell up.

I have two kids, one of which has left the house as quickly as they could, and the other which has abused parents living with them. So they just happen to have to deal with the fallout as well.

I have repeatedly tried to get my wife's mother to accept my parents back, and she won't. I've asked my own wife if she'd be willing to accept my parents back, and she says no as well. I don't blame them, my parents are abusive as can be.

Is this a forever thing? This is the third in home caregiver we've hired. The first one lasted one day, the second about two months, and the current one about 6. Do I tell my parents to fuck off, or should I take care of them despite the fact that they are abusive as can be? I've told them both they need to stop the verbal abuse, and they just laugh it off and say "it's just joking". Pretty concerning.

The parents can walk and do as they wish (although they are not the most mobile), but they are becoming more and more disabled as time goes on. It's honestly a wonder they can walk as much as they can and function at all with all the health issues they have. I've honestly expected my mother to drop dead for a decade now, but there she is.
