What are the rules for writing something set in a different culture?

I am referring to writing something that is heavy on something set in a different culture or is a piece set in a different country. <br><br>For instance say a woman who is American and white wants to write a book set in Mexico, where most of the characters are Latinx. <br><br>What would the rules be to do it well? To do it well without offending the culture that is not her own.
