Questioning a common assumption

I've been lurking this sub for a while, and I have a couple thoughts:

I'm not sure why everyone is quick to assume that everyone who posts is living in the USA or the UK. I'm not sure where this assumption is coming from. For example, I'm from Korea, and I just got a job in the Netherlands, so I'm moving in a couple weeks. Our money is valued at the same rate as the Canadian dollar, and the rental prices in the EU are so high, especially when compared to Korea.

The other thing I thought was strange was the emphasis on shy *person*ality. I think people are focusing on the wrong thing. Any time someone says something like "this is what shy people do better than anyone", I think it's more accurate to say *everyone* does these things better than anyone. Because shy people are not a different species from humans. We're a part of the human race too. I think the things that shy people are better at is the same thing that frugal people are better at. Being less materialistic, seeing things in a more objective way, being less prone to consumerism. I think the emphasis on shyness is unnecessary.
