How often do you use your target language in a day?

I've noticed that English learners tend to use English more in a day than learners of other languages tend to use those in a day. For example, on average English learners are more likely to use English at work than learners of Spanish are in theirs, learners of English are more likely to interact with English speakers on the internet than learners of Portuguese are in theirs, and so on.

Unless you live in an area where the language you're learning is the main language, or unless you have a job that involves constantly interacting with people who speak the target language you're not as likely to use the language as much.

I think I probably use Danish 1-3 times per day. I use it at work, when I order food from a restaurant that only accepts cash and the cash machines aren't working, and when I'm browsing Danish language media. Physical media, not digital media, as I tend to have an easier time understanding spoken Danish than written Danish.

I should probably also use Danish when I'm speaking to customers in my shop, but I'm a coward and English is often easier. It's also hard to speak Danish to customers who don't speak any Danish. Just because I live in Denmark doesn't mean everyone speaks Danish. I speak Danish to customers who speak some Danish, but if they have a thick accent I just automatically speak to them in English. That's just a reflex at this point.
