When you are teaching teenagers you expect to have to speak with parents about the occasional “f***” or “f**k” from time to time. But my class has been very well behaved, and I am floored by what my student wrote.

This is the prompt I gave my students:

“Write a ONE-WORD response to the chapter.”

First of all they all did the assignment, which is a big win. Well it turns out that one student wrote the word “horny” on his homework. He actually put 5 times. When he gave me the assignment, he said

“My response to the chapter is horny horny horny horny horny.”

My mind was blown. I talked to his parents and they were confused as well. The chapter was about food and pictures. There were no sex scenes. I never got clarity on what he meant by horny, but I will continue to wonder the rest of my days.

This is what happens when 16 year olds are given five free days.
