Food stamp recipients, how do you make it work?

I'm still trying to get this whole system figured out. I get a small amount of food stamps, but I still end up going over budget far to often. I'm not lazy, I just don't have time to cook a lot. I want to get the most out of my stamps but I'm not sure how else to save money. Do you have any idea's on how to do this?
