Anyone else act surprised about the concept of incest?

I was talking about my sister to my new partner and said something like “the reason why I never wear skinny jeans anymore is because my sister said she stopped wearing them because she lost an ass once and she lost me an ass too.” He was like, “I didn’t know that siblings could act like that, I’m jealous.”

Then he asked about my relationship with my dad, he’s very close to his family and he’s a very clingy person, so I figured he’d like to know about that. He said the exact same thing, “I love that, I wish my daughter was nice to me like that.”

Again, he was talking about his relationship with his dad. I said, “my dad and I are very close, and we’re both very clingy, so we have a lot of fun together.” He said, “I remember you said that you don’t like your dad, but your relationship sounds cool.” I said, “no, I love him, I just don’t act the way I do with him around other people because they don’t get it, but it’s a similar relationship to what you have with your daughter, it’s just… different, it’s incestuous.” He was like, “I’ve never heard of anything like that before.”

It’s not the first time I’ve heard that. My sister and I have also been told, “you two are so close, I love it.” I’ve also heard, “I wish I could be more rebellious and talk shit about my family like you,” and they’ve always taken it like we were acting like a gang, not like we’re attracted to our family.

So my question is, do other incestuous people act surprised and ignorant to that kind of thing like me?
