My (17F) cousin (24F) is getting married (call her Tammy), and I'm her maid of honor. Tammy has been in love with him for years, and I'm happy for her, but I never thought she would marry him. The reason I'm here is Tammy and her future husband have very strict rules.

They both have very religious beliefs, and they want their wedding ceremony to be very strict to old fashioned values and customs. They don't want any one to wear anything "sexual" or "lustful", and they want people to dress modestly. They don't want any dancing, either, and they want strict gender roles, too. Tammy has always been very sweet , and I never expected her to believe in this stuff, but whatever. It's her day.

Fast forward to the wedding. I wore a very modest dress, and Tammy and her husband also wore modest attire. We were all dressed up, and we were all having a good time. Some of my other cousins, who don't share the same views as Tammy and her husband, were there, and they were all dressed more "lustful", and they were dancing a lot, too. Tammy and her husband didn't seem to notice. One of them was also wearing a wedding dress.

We went through the ceremony, and they got married. We then had to give speeches. When it was my turn, I was about to give a speech. But before I could, Tammy's husband suddenly walks up to me. He says. "I need to talk to you for a second". I left with him. He took me to a room, and he told me I couldn't give the speech. I asked him "why not?" He said it was because of the way I was dressed, and he said "the dress was very lustful, and that I was tempting the male guests". I said "no, I'm wearing a modest dress". He said "no, you're not, and also, you're wearing a wedding dress, and that's highly disrespectful to Tammy". I said "no I'm not, I'm just wearing a white dress". He then said "you're not allowed to give the speech".

I was very angry, but I didn't want to cause a scene, so I went back. We then had dinner. We then had to do the traditional wedding dance. Tammy and her husband danced, and we all watched. After that, we all danced. I danced with Tammy, and she saw that I was very upset. She asked me "what's wrong?" I told her how her husband wouldn't let me give the speech. She said "why?" I told her that her husband said my dress was "lustful". She said "what? That's not true". She then asked me "did you get permission from her husband before wearing this?" I said "no", and she said "you need to get permission from my husband before doing anything". I said "call him over", and she did.

He came over, and Tammy asked him about the whole thing. He said it was because I was wearing a wedding dress, and he said "it's tradition that only the bride wears a wedding dress". Tammy said "no, she's not wearing a wedding dress, she's just wearing a white dress". I said "see, I told you". He said "no, she's wearing a wedding dress , and that's very disrespectful to you". Tammy then said "the wedding dress has already been worn, and it's fine". He then said "no, she can't wear a wedding dress, because it's disrespectful to Tammy". Tammy then said "I don't care, she can wear it". He then said "no, she can't, and if she does, I'm calling off the wedding". Tammy then said "fine, whatever". He then said "good, because I don't want her to wear a wedding dress on my wedding day". I said "fine, whatever". Tammy said "guys, let's just drop it".

We all just dropped it. We then went on with the wedding. We took some photos, and we then left. We went to Tammy's house, and we were all just hanging out. After a while, her husband came to me, and he said "I thought you were going to change your dress". I said "I'm not going to change my dress. I was going to wear it all along". He said "no, you're not wearing a wedding dress on my wedding day". I said "I already told you I'm not wearing a wedding dress, I'm just wearing a white dress". He said "no, you're wearing a wedding dress". I said "no I'm not". We both kept saying "yes you are" and "no I'm not". Tammy heard us arguing, and she walked over. She asked "what's going on?" I said "your husband is saying I'm wearing a wedding dress". Tammy then said "so what if she is? It's already been worn, and it's fine". He said "no, she's dressed like a bride". Tammy said "no she's not". I said "call some of our cousins over". She called some of our cousins over. I said "are any of you guys wearing a wedding dress?" They all said "yes". I said "see? they're all wearing wedding dresses". He said "no, they're not". Tammy then said "maybe it's because you're sexist". He then said "no, I'm not". Tammy then said "yes, you are, and that's why you're saying she's wearing a wedding dress". He said "no, I'm not". I said "whatever".

The rest of the day went by, and after they left, I went home. The day after, I wanted to call Tammy, but I saw that she had called me five times, and I hadn't seen them. I called her back, and she answered. I said "hey Tammy, how's it going?" She said "it's not going good. My husband and I got into a huge fight". I said "what? Why?" She said "he said it was because of you". I said "what? No, that's not true". She said "yes, it's true, and he said you shouldn't have worn a wedding dress at my wedding". I said "no, I wasn't wearing a wedding dress, I was wearing a white dress". She said "no, you were wearing a wedding dress". I said "no I wasn't". Tammy then said "you're not the victim here. I'm the victim. My husband was telling me how much he hated that you were wearing a wedding dress to my wedding". I said "no, he doesn't feel that way, and I wasn't wearing a wedding dress". She said "yes, you were, and you're a very bad person for doing that". I said "I'm not a bad person, and I didn't wear a wedding dress". Tammy then said "whatever".

I'm really confused. I don't know what to do. I feel like I wasn't in the wrong, but Tammy and her husband are really mad at me. I don't know what to do. AITA?
