If you're an incoming college freshman, you owe it to yourself to do some good reading this summer. Now is not the time to be distracted by your upcoming college life, or your friends who are moving away. Read. Read. Read. And for those of you who don't like to read, shame on you. You are cutting yourself off from a whole world of ideas.

I truly feel bad for people who feel this way. Reading is one of the joys of life. It's where you discover new worlds, new ideas, new things about yourself. If you don't take advantage of it, you are cutting yourself off from so much. Scientists have already proven that reading expands your vocabulary and, in many cases, your IQ. Don't believe me? Look it up yourself. And if you don't want to make an effort, you should really consider that. And if you write, or make videos, you are really handicapping yourself. You owe it to yourself, to your friends, to society as a whole, to learn what you can. And the first place you can do that is through reading. In my opinion, nobody should be allowed to graduate college if they don't know how to read. But for whatever reason, that's not the case. So it's up to you to make sure that you know how to read. It's one of the best things you can do for yourself.
