I spent a full day unplugging and shutdown every single device in my home, and I feel incredibly better

I'm a 30 year old woman, living alone in a 3 bedroom house in a 70s development in SoCal. It's been incredibly hot this week, and I'm still staying home 24/7, and just haven't felt right for the last week or so.

So I thought "I'm driving everyone nuts on Chambers, I may as well actually do something about it". In my research, I started reading more about the validity of the "human body is a conductor of electricity" and how that relates to the amount of wireless signals we're bombarded with (cell phones, routers, your neighbor's stuff across the street, etc). I've heard of people turning off their routers at night, but I decided to go full in and unplug everything in my entire home and see how it actually makes me feel. **TL;DR: It feels amazing**

Here's a list of what I unplugged:

1. Router and modem (this took down the WiFi, so I shut down my cell phone too)
2. All TVs (I don't have cable, so I barely use them as is)
3. Computer
4. Gaming system
5. Printer / scanner
6. All Bluetooth speakers
7. Alexa / Echo (I never use these, and they're creepy - they're going in the garbage)
8. Smart light bulbs (not all of them, but I'll talk about these in a bit)
9. Every single power strip / surge protector, even if I unplugged devices that were still plugged in to them

I was surprised at what I didn't need to unplug to function in my daily life. I still have my refrigerator / stove / microwave / dishwasher (I'm actually surprised at how often I use that thing, even though it's just me !)

So once everything was unplugged, I took a nap. I felt like I needed to charge my own internal batteries with all this new information and a new, "zen" environment. I slept for a **long** time. I typically take 15-30 minute naps. Today I slept for almost 2 hours (I'm usually in bed by 10pm, FYI).

After my nap, I felt like I had more energy than usual. I went for a walk around the neighborhood and it was a great feeling. I did this all with *no cell phone* (I usually listen to BidenPod, or true crime / comedy podcasts). I didn't even notify my mom or roommates (I have 2) as to where I was going, I just went. I felt a little bad when I got home and everyone was looking for me, but I explained to them what I did and they all thought it was a good idea.

One of my housemates was a little concerned about the smart bulbs and asked if they were still, you know, working, and **one entire room of my house is now blacked out**. Apparently I did unplug something very important to those bulbs and they won't turn back on without some sort of complex process I haven't looked into yet. This was an accident, but it also made me realize I don't actually *need* 15 light sources in one room. Now I get to minimize my light fixtures, which is an added bonus !

I'm not saying I'm going to permanently turn my whole house into Amish country, but I am going to shut everything down every night. The first thing I did turning everything back on was to get on my computer so I could type this out.

I'm not trying to be "that person" who thinks she's going to start a movement by turning off her lights, but I do feel a little better and I think it's because of this.
