Hi
i'm currently 20 years old and very close to graduating from university with a computer science degree. I feel like I am one of the few people in my class that want to work a normal regular job compared to the others who want to work crazy hours, or try to start a tech business right away, or be a freelancer. I just want to be able to come home from work without having to worry about the projects i'm working on, be able to go on vacation and not have to constantly check my email and be available, and to have a somewhat slower work environment where it's okay to take 30 minutes to an hour to eat lunch or read the news.

I don't know how realistic this is anymore though as everything i've read online has indicated that tech is a 24/7 job unless you're working at a very mature company. I've also heard that as a programmer the work environment is constantly changing and you have to adapt to new technologies and adapt fast or you'll get left behind so no company would want to hire someone who wants to work at a slower pace.

So am I just stupid for wanting a regular 9 to 5 job? Do I need to stop having these expectations and adapt to the fast paced and demanding tech environment that everyone else seems to enjoy?
