The good news for the rest of us is, "winning the Republican primary" does *not* mean "winning the White House".

I'm not saying he can't, I'm not saying he will, but Trump has the best chances of any of the candidates at the Republican Primary.

The last time Trump ran, he was a political neophyte and inexperienced in national politics. Despite this, he managed to win the Presidency. Five years later, he's gone from being inexperienced to being an expert.

Trump has been elected to offices by the broad general population. Most of his challengers have not. They've been elected by a smaller population or appointed by their governors. The average voter is not going to know much about them, unless it's a local news story. This means when they run for President, they'll have to build their brand **and** run for office.

Trump, by contrast, has been in the news, even when not in office, constantly. There are people who hate him, but there are also people who know who he is and like him. He doesn't need to build a brand. He just needs to run.

Trump has been through the thunderstorm of Republican primary politics and is still standing. Sununu might have been elected to the governorship of a Republican state, but it was as a moderate. When he runs as a hard right candidate, he's going to find out what it's like to have millions of dollars in attack ads launched against him by Trump.

Trump has had the Republican party turn on him (Mccarthy) and turn away (Fox News) and yet he's still standing.

Trump has the experience, brand recognition, has the Republican establishment at odds with him, and best of all, has gatekeeper status.

There's going to be a lot of candidates running for the Republican primary, but Trump is an incumbent. Everyone will be running against him. Despite the fact that almost all of the Republicans want him gone, he's still at the front of the pack.

We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Edit:

Thanks for the awards. I appreciate the recognition, but not the use of karma to determine the validity of a viewpoint.
