New to cooking, and no idea where to start

Hi all. I'm a 19M in college, and I've finally had enough of dominos pizza and McDonald's. I've always loved cooking, but never really had been in a situation to focus on it. I'm now in my third year, and I have a feeling that it will be the most stable year for me at college so far. I want to start cooking, but I have no idea where to start. My school *doesn't* have a kitchen in any of the dorms, so I'm limited to a microwave and a mini fridge. If I took the time to go to a real kitchen, it would take me about 1 hour round trip. I'm looking to spend only $100 a month, and that includes any possible pots and pans.

I have the following:

A microwave
A mini fridge
A mug
A plate
A bowl
A fork, knife, & spoon

If you've been in my situation, what would you suggest for getting a good start?
