I'm an actor. On set, I'm "typecasted" as the person who never has a problem.

This is a true story and I'm a professional actor in my relatively early 20s. Although I'm not super well known now, I've been fortunate enough to work with multiple top tier production companies on several projects. I just love doing my own thing instead of playing to the expectations of management and agents and being tied down to big contracts - which can prevent me from doing the things I really want to do. So I only work with smaller production companies and I just like to stay chill. But within my relatively small scope, I do pretty well and I've worked on some stuff that has a pretty big following - even if I'm not really "famous". But I love my job and I'm really lucky.

Anyway, I was filming for a new project recently and one of the major stars called out sick. In a panic, our director delayed filming a little bit and got a last minute call to see if we were still available that day. This star was expected to be on set for the whole day.

For a bit, production was in a panic because this was supposed to be a stressful shoot, and the heartrate monitor they were going to use was massive and heavy and they didn't have anyone last minute to wear it. But then I noticed they were struggling and I offered to do it.

I've worn this heartrate monitor before in the past and it's just so uncomfortable. It's like wearing a big chunky bra but it's on your stomach (my character isn't supposed to wear a shirt ?♀️) and it has big wires you have to wear on you and it's so hot. But I'm always happy to do my own stunts, and in general I'm always happy to step in and help out in any way that I can.

I'm just really chill and I'm not bothered that easily. I'm 5'2 and 104 pounds, but I get really focused and I'm always willing to step in the ring. I was relatively new on set and everyone is always surprised that I'm always so willing and eager - and they're also surprised that I can pull it off on the fly. I like to do my own stunts, and I like to take care of my own costumes and sets and stuff. Although there's obviously a lot I don't know, I'm pretty handy at general stuff and I'm just generally a really hands on person.

Although there's a lot I don't know, I like to think I'm pretty cool under pressure, and overall I love just taking care of business. And overall that's fine because I work with smaller teams and we have a lot more room to relax and do our own thing.

So anyway, that day we were filming this scene where a character dies and one of the characters is going to have a miscarriage. Another character is supposed to have a heart attack. So it's supposed to be this super intense scene, and the heartrate monitor is for the character having a heart attack. It was like this scene in Kill Bill and the heart rate monitor thing would be like this:

"When my heartbeat goes up, you raise your sword. When my heartbeat goes down, you lower your sword. And when I die, you will plunge your sword into that bag of bugs and kill it!"

So we did the scene, and people were just so focused. I didn't have any lines but I was part of the scene, so I was just standing off to the side being a set extra. Everyone was just so in the zone and the other actor that was doing the heartrate monitor thing was so nervous. It was a pretty big deal for them and I'm sure they're going to get a lot of attention for this scene.

I'm pretty chill and I'm not really bothered by stuff that easily, but it was just so clear everyone was stressed. So when we did the scene, I just decided to troll them a little bit. So every time the heart rate thing went up, I would slowly do a little dance move. I didn't want to be obvious, and I didn't want to throw them off. But every time the heartrate went up, I would just do a little step to the side, or bob my head, or smack my lips or something.

I would do it for just a second, and then I would go back to standing still and being totally in character. And just being a good set extra and doing my job. And I would do all these little things every time the heartbeat went up.

At first they didn't notice, but then they started noticing and they would be like, "what? Is she...is she...?" and they would be like this:

"Wait, no! No! No! Bad! Don't distract us!"

But I was being very sly and I had to be careful, because I didn't want to throw them off. I just wanted to play a little trick. I wasn't trying to upset them, I was just bored and I wanted to play a trick.

And the best part is, they were so focused. They were in the zone, and they were so nervous, and they were so stressed. They didn't know what to do and they were just really bothered.

I don't think they're used to being in a situation where there's something they can't control. And they can't control it, because I'm just a set extra. And what are they gonna do? Tell me to stop, and throw off the whole set? Or just go ahead and deal with it?

They're already so stressed and they have so much riding on this, and they can't just tell me to knock it off. So they're just kinda like ....?

It was so funny because, I'm just this chill little thing, doing my own little thing. And they can't control me and they don't know what to do. So they're just like, stressed.

I did it for a bit, and then I eventually stopped. But they just looked so frazzled and they were like, "huh? What? Why are you...?" And I was like "huh? What?"

It was so funny, and it was just this little thing I was doing. But they were just like "what? Why would you...? But ok, let's just go ahead and do this scene." And then we did the scene again.

And it was just so funny, because they were so distracted and they didn't know what to think. They just looked like this the whole time:

"Wait, what? What's wrong with her? Is she ok?"

And then they just started to laugh, and they were like, "hahahah! you win. You got me."

It was so funny, and it was just this little thing I did. It was just like, 10 minutes or so, but it was just this funny thing I did that ended up being a bigger deal than I thought.

Anyway, that's my story. I'm an actor, and on set I've learned that I'm just "typecasted" as the person who never has a problem. I'm not trying to be difficult or anything, I just like to troll people sometimes. In general I just like to stay chill, and I try not to let things bother me.

I guess that's why I like minimalism - I don't like having too much stuff and I don't like it when stuff gets in the way. So I try to stay chill and I try not to let anything bother me too much.

I feel very fortunate because I have a good job and I get to do what I want. And although I'm not super well known, I like that I have the ability to just do my own thing.

But minimalism is great for anyone, and I think it can help a lot of people. I think people really like it, and people are generally pretty supportive of it.

I've been a minimalist for a bit, but I think it's something everyone should check out. It's really helped me, and I feel like it can help other people too.

Anyway, that's my story. Hope you enjoyed!
