I was talking to my oldest friend (25M) and we were discussing kids. I told him I’m childfree and he looked really confused and said, “Oh, so you just haven’t found the right person yet?”

I laughed and said, “Nope, I purposefully work on being childfree 100%. It’s what I want.”

After that, his whole demeanor shifted and he said, “That’s so cool. I couldn’t do it. You’re really ahead in life.”

It made me feel proud that I get to work toward being childfree. I get to be responsible for myself and work on being financially independent. I take pride in making good decisions and knowing that I’m making my life better and better every day.

It seems like people with kids can talk freely about being parents, but us childfree people don’t talk as much. Idk, maybe I just haven’t found the right people, but I feel like people don’t want to hear about how being childfree is great.

So, does anyone else take pride in being childfree?
