What does this sub actually do?

I know we’ve had this topic before, but it seems like lately we don’t do much beyond letting people vent or do “gotcha” posts of people who are a little left of ghengis khan… <br><br>Don’t get me wrong, venting can be important. But why do we need an entire sub to vent about people we don’t agree with? I know that we have a long history of doing this, but it’s something that should stop. When we do the “gotcha” posts, we basically never willfully go out and look for these people. We just reshare things that /c/changemyview or other subs already talked about, except instead of engaging them and trying to convince them we just mock them. <br><br>When we DO do “gotcha” posts, we should engage them and show them where they are incorrect, explain our side of things, and have a discussion with them. Then we can talk about it on this sub as “hey, this is what this person said to me when I used [insert argument here]”. <br><br>Instead of a bunch of passive observers dogpiling and spamming “this is what [insert ideology here] really looks like!”. The rest of our posts are either your political opinion du jour, a bunch of inane chatgpt prompt responses, or “are [insert group here] also communists?”
