I was just a young kid that had just graduated high school, and I was really struggling to figure out how I was going to pay for college and stuff. I was working at a restaurant and a guy there told me I should join the military. I had just finished listening to a story about a guy there who had a friend that was a pilot in the military and was shot down and had to be drag back to his unit and was killed after that. I mentioned that I really didn’t want to go to war, and this other guy said that the military is not all combat. He told me to join, and that it would help me figure out what I wanted to do. He said that they would help me get a degree, help me chose a career, and help me start an adventure. I thought about it and really listened to his words, and it seemed to make sense. I was making $10,000 a year at that time and had no prospects to make more money. No one had ever said anything like that to me before. I felt that I was being presented with a new option. I felt that everyone in my life at that time didn’t seem to care about my well-being or felt that they were helping me.

2 years ago I started to learn about Trump’s plan to pull out of the Middle East. I thought the war was already over, but come to find out that the US is still at war in Afghanistan and Iraq. I am pro-military I love the fact that they protect us and would die for us. They are the modern day heroes of our time. Joining the military is a great honor and I have the utmost respect for them. I currently make $70,000 a year and I am satisfied with my life. I even have the opportunity to move to the west coast and triple my salary. Some how I feel that my life is missing something and I want to join the military. I have never been more proud to be an American and I want to serve my country. Should I do it?
