Let me explain myself.

Recently I’ve been thinking if all of these “X is very hard for native English speakers” is just a mass cope from native English speakers to deter others from learning their language, and if they know that their language is not actually hard for the mass, but they want to keep up the prestige and the advantage of speaking it. And I think this is an established fact that speaking English gives you a big advantage in the workplace, in school and in society, and speaking English as native speaker or as proficient as native speakers gives you a big leap in your career. Now I’m not saying that all English speakers are like this, but I’m saying that there is a very big mass of people who want to eliminate the competition.

Let me give some examples:

- German: Germans and English speakers have a history of conflict, English speakers always make fun of the German language, they say it’s hard, and even with these they know German language is very useful in the EU, so they want to keep up the narrative that German is hard as it is and very confusing and weird and so on so they can keep the prestige of English in the EU.

- French: Same here. English speakers and French have a long history of conflicts, and even with these English speakers know that French is very useful in the EU, so they also want to keep up the narrative that French is too hard and confusing.

- Russian: Same here, English speakers know that Russian is a very useful language in the upcoming war between the west and east, and they know that Russian offers many opportunities if one speaks it proficiently, so they want to eliminate competition.

- Arabic and Mandarin: Same here, English speakers know that Arabic and Mandarin are the languages of the next superpowers, so they also want to keep up the narrative that these languages are very hard and don’t even bother trying to learn them.

And so on so forth.

Let’s say that the majority of these people are right, and English language is especially hard for native English speakers, so excluding them from the competition.

- French and Spanish speakers or native speakers find German very easy.

- Asian languages speakers find Russian very easy.

- Many native speakers of English speaking countries, but who are not of English ethnic group find it easy to learn many languages and they don’t even find any difficulty and they even enjoy it.

So long story short, is it a mass cope? Does native English speakers want to eliminate competition?
