I (25M) got a call from an ex-colleague who was looking for an engineer to work in his new startup and offered me a senior dev position even though I’m only 2 years experience!

I’m glad I still have the weekend to decide, but I’m at a crossroads. I’m still fairly junior with only 2 years experience and he offered me a senior software engineer position. I feel like I’m barely qualified for mid-level positions and my experience mainly lies in backend dev in one tech stack. His startup is in something completely different and he’ll give me a 20% raise. I’m nervous because he’s just starting out and I’m not sure if I’m ready for such a big role in a completely new domain. The other catch is he’s going to cut his losses if things don’t go right in 6 months.

I feel like my current job is pretty stable but I don’t see a lot of room for growth. I’m not sure what the best move is, any advice is welcome!

TL;DR I’ve been offered a senior software engineer position in a completely new domain and tech stack in a new startup but i’m not sure if i’m ready to take the risk.
