Amazon vows to expand AI oversight following discovery of monitored Ring account

Following Amazon's October discovery of an employee viewing Ring footage in their free time, Amazon has acknowledged the issue and indicated that it will widen its oversight of AI-related data access and expand its auditing of data storage. CEO Jeff Bezos stated that this decision was in response to a Department of Energy report that led to the removal of employees in technical and non-technical positions. The report revealed that employees had improperly accessed data from Ring doorbell cameras and accessed Ring accounts linked to Amazon staff. Amazon has since issued an updated employee email policy, emphasizing the need for continued transparency and ethical behavior.
