How would you feel if your partner/ spouse took your name?

My husband is getting a lot of grief from his family for wanting me to take his last name after we get married. He says it‘s traditional. I want to keep my own last name. I don’t understand why he would want me to take his name. If he wants to be traditional, he can take mine. His family is using guilt trip on him saying he doesn’t want to be with me anymore since I don’t want to change my last name.
