Why is it so important to own a high quality AR? Why not just buy a Anderson M4 or something?

Everywhere I go I seem to hear "get a quality AR not a junk brand" yet I can't seem to find out why or where I should find good ones.<br>I have found 2 criteria that make something a quality AR:<br>1. If a lot of people like it.<br>2. It is really expensive.
