Something that makes me a lot of money I don't think most people know about.

So I recently had a couple of acquaintances that I'm friendly with show interest in learning how to do this, so thought I'd post it here.

Every year in June I go to the local county tax sale. Now, I don't buy the tax certificates. I write letters to the people who's houses were just bought by the county. I make them a ridiculously low offer, and if they're already behind on their taxes, they'll usually take the money and run. I once got a house valued at $160,000 for $8,000. I've bought another 5 or 6 houses like that. I have airbnb, renters, and recently started selling them little by little because I know the market will tank.

The reason I put this under frugal living is that one house we bought for $10,000, I gutted it myself and put new plumbing and electric in for probably $5,000. It now rents for $900 a month, and is valued at $130,000. We use the rental money to pay other bills, so essentially we got that house for $15,000. The house next door (which is actually a little smaller) is valued at $180,000.

Anyway, this is a good opportunity, and I'm just spreading the word. I use public records to get their addresses and names. I get the valuation of the houses with public records too, and use an online mapping app to measure the property.

If you did this the right way you could make a lot of money.
