So, the new Batgirl movie is cancelled, and that’s kind of a weird thing.

The new batgirl movie (a 150-million-dollar film starring Michael Keaton), was kind of a weird thing to begin with. Michael Keaton is an older guy, and they were using a lot of CGI to make him look younger. He just played batman in the new “the flash” movie, which also had a huge budget – and all of the promotion for that movie seems to have been dropped.

So, you might not have known about the batgirl movie, because it was not about the batgirl from the new “the flash” movie. They’re both part of the DC cinematic universe, but they’re in different universes. This batgirl movie starred Leslie Grace, and it was intended for the HBO max streaming platform. Not long ago, there was an announcement from the actress, where she seemed to be trolling people who thought the movie was cancelled, but soon after that, it was officially announced that the movie was cancelled.

The reasons for cancelling the movie were vague, but it was basically down to a change in executives. There was a merger between Warner Bros and Discovery, an old company that was founded in the 1980s, and is owned by the Vanguard group (the same people who own basically every big corporation). Discovery was mostly focused on reality TV, and when they took over, they started cancelling TV shows left and right. In the case of this batgirl movie though, it was completed (or close to it), and it was supposed to be exclusive to the HBO max platform, which was actually a partnership with Discovery. All of these TV shows that were cancelled, are being replaced by new shows from the people at Discovery.

There were also reports of the movie simply being “bad”, but no one really knows how true that is. “Bad” movies get released all the time, so that doesn’t make much sense as a reason for it to be completely cancelled and deleted. There’s also reports that the movie was political, and it was intended to be about the empowerment of women (and also people of colour). Some think that the change in executives meant they didn’t want to pursue that political message. I also think it might be important to note, that there’s been a lot of talk about “AI”, and these people have been talking about it non-stop. They seem to be preparing us for something. I’m not sure what exactly this has to do with anything, except that it’s a weird occurrence that’s happening at the same time.

One of the weirdest parts of this, is that the people involved in the movie are contractually not allowed to talk about it. They’re not even allowed to release any of the footage that they shot. Ordinarily, whenever something like this happens, the people involved in the movie just leak the footage or talk about it. It’s very strange that everyone is so reluctant to talk about it, and the people at the top are also being very vague about why they’re so against it.

Another weird part of it, is that they seem to be deleting any trace of this movie ever existing. On the set, they were using codenames, and any indication that this was a batgirl movie was censored from the set photos that were leaked. The people in charge are deleting all of the social media posts about it, and they’re even deleting brigades of fan art that was posted by fans – which is very rare, if not unprecedented. They’re also using copyright claims to delete any clips of the movie that were leaked.

I saw an interview from someone who worked on the movie (as an extra), who was allowed to talk about it. He said that the movie set was massive, and they were building sets that were meant for multiple movies – it wasn’t just one movie. He said that it was a series of movies and a TV show, and it was all being deleted. I kind of wonder what would lead to that.

I kind of wonder, if there’s maybe some reason why they don’t want these people to be seen in these roles. Like there’s something about the context of this movie, that they don’t want people to see. Maybe they don’t want to be locked into these roles, or maybe there’s something specific about this movie that they want to hide. Maybe they want to save these characters for something else, or maybe they just don’t want them to be seen in this way.

I’m just wildly speculating at this point, but the whole thing seems kind of weird.
