My husband got into a bit of a discreet gang fight last night

My husband is a bouncer at a bar in a not so great part of town in North Dallas. Three nights ago, a somewhat drunk regular customer (who was already on his last warning and a bit of an altercation waiting to happen) got angry at a group of men who were receiving extra attention from the bartender.

This regular customer, who had been kicked out a few times prior to this for other confrontations, obviously didn't take the attention the other men were getting very well. After a few passive-aggressive jabs, it escalated into a fist fight and the bartender called my husband in to chuck the guy out.

Expecting no more issues to arise from this, they went on to serve their patrons and bled out the remaining hour of the shift until closing time.

My husband had clocked out and was walking down the sidewalk to his car when out of nowhere, multiple cars swarmed in and surrounded him. Suddenly, he's face to face with a group of gang members (who he later found out were affiliated with the man he kicked out) who were armed to the teeth.

Now my husband is no pushover. He played football in high school, is 6'2", 240lbs, and works out daily. Because of his size and strength, he was able to push his way through and fight the group off until they left.

The next night, the same gang members walked into the bar under the guise that they were there to drink. When my husband approached them, they smiled and said "you owe us one."

My husband, not one to back down from a fight, punched the largest man in the jaw and brawled with them until closing time.

When it was all said and done, the police had arrived and everyone had been arrested and charged with assault.

Now I know what you're thinking, "how did this go on for so long?" Well, the bar my husband works at is a dive bar that is a bit of an eyesore for the community. They don't call the cops unless they really have to, and in this instance, they obviously didn't want to risk their own business being shut down because of some random altercation.

So now my husband won't be able to see his favorite regular customers again because the bar has been shut down permanently, all because of some drunk guy who wanted attention from a bartender.

Gang members, let this be a lesson to you all: just go home when you get kicked out.
